So you are saying that SOMEBODY was armed. lol And that you would have no idea how to approach the situation besides either escalating the situation or suckerpunching a person that posed you no personal threat to you or anyone else.
You might want to learn a bit about identifying threats to one's safety and disarming those people appropriately. Where is your bullet going to end up when you miss him when he charges with the saw and your shot misses? Of course you think it wouldn't but odds are that it would with a hothead response. Even trained, experienced NYPD only have a hit rate of 43% at very close range.
Everybody thinks it's like Hollywood when you pull a gun. If he runs at you just shoot him in the leg! They don't realize you're going to be scared, full of adrenaline, pulling your gun as fast as possible and cranking off shots to not die.
Speaking from personal experience, you'd do that even with years of preparation. The only way to not be panicked is to have these kinds of things be a daily occurrence. And really, if this is a daily thing for you, it sounds like society has more problems with gun toting lunatics than anything.
