On My Mother
This morning during a conversation with my mother she informed me she was banned from Twitter (does she have street cred now?). I laughed at first thinking she was confused so I asked some questions.
My mother, who has never used Twitter before, who only signed up because she wanted to get notifications from Jim Cramer, apparently “accidentally” followed the wrong people during account registration, one being President Donald Trump, and was banned without ever having sent a single tweet.
Let this sink in a bit. It really is that bad out there.
In the past my mother has often questioned why I continue to dedicate so much of my life to Voat while never truly understanding the darkness in the world. Now she sees a bit more clearly. I’m actually glad Twitter banned my little old innocent mommy, because now she fully understands why I do what I do. Twitter indirectly increased the bond between a mother and child (bet that stings a bit). My mom will tell her friends and family about this, and they will tell others, and now you have an entirely new demographic that is knowledgable about corporate censorship.
One person at a time. This is how it works.
Because of the mentions in the media today I wanted to use this as an opportunity to demonstrate that censorship is a major issue in the tech world, and for good or worse, Voat rejects it all. Free Speech is King.
On Articles about Voat
Regarding the “journalists” who do “journalism” about Voat: I’ve found a direct relationship between how shitty a person/company is and the amount of time they give you to respond to an upcoming “article.” They already have the article written and they are ready to publish, but they underhandedly send an email beforehand asking for commentary, knowing full well any busy person does not have adequate time to respond. This is by design because it makes you look weak and cowardly when they claim “We received no reply to our most sincere, timely, and professional communication.” It’s all manipulation. Zero integrity. No Logos.
