So apparently someone has found that Charleston shooter Dylann Roof had posted some images of himself (arrow keys work) at some date prior to the shooting. I want to share my thoughts:
Everything about them just screams, I want to be a hard-ass, and I want to be taken seriously. But the images are ridiculous. The posing with guns in the back garden among the potted plants. The little flag burning at home. The Gold's Gym shirt on the average Joe's body. The haircut. The slightly chubby kid with the big boots squatting down to spit on the flag. The posing with a gun in the parents' bedroom. If you'd see these images, heck, if some random person posted these to voat wherever without them being known as pictures of a shooter, you'd laugh about them. Heck, I'd at least chuckle about them. The thing is, people probably did laugh at the guy, and didn't take him seriously. Until he did this. Classic "I'll show them all" mindset. (Was he bullied?) I'm not sure what lesson's to be learned from this, and I'm not trying to excuse or defend the guy, but I did find it very striking and I had to share my thoughts.
