This is a little harsh Dorex. I can’t speak for others here, but my degree is in biochemistry at a tier one university. I have produced research both at a university and medical school level. I’ve gone to many panels to watch brilliant PhD candidates present data that took them years to gather, only to witness their ass get handed to them by a panel of scientists who are even more brilliant, who have dedicated their lives to an extremely specific field of knowledge, and are willing to take a microscope to every word and number and spend hours debating the validity. I know what it’s like to put in hundreds of hours pippetting, keeping cell cultures alive, counting colonies, waiting nervously for machines to collect data while praying you didn’t mess at ANY single step or you’ve wasted your time. And hopefully to create a SINGLE graph of data that shows one single drug doesn’t interfere with one receptor of the human body. I’ve seen what it’s like to watch a dedicated scientist slowly deteriorate from a preventable cancer he acquired from working with radiation at your lab-literally sacrificing his life and leaving his young kids behind in an effort to produce that “good science” you’re referring to, and hopefully save lives in doing so. So yeah, I have some idea. It seems like to take this stuff seriously. If so, I wish you the best on completing your biology degree. There’s still a need for more honest scientists who want to contribute more than faulty data showing replacing natural fat with sugar in yogurt is somehow good for you.

Thanks Empress! I’ve gotten into traditional wives recently and I’m not sure whether to finish med school or immediately start a family with my husband.

I can't tell if I'm being encouraged, scolded, or bragged to.

All three. But hey, I meant it about finishing your degree Dortex. God has a place for you and a destiny to fulfill. I can tell you take credible science seriously and want others to have the ability to decipher the integrity of data as well, and that can be a very powerful, impactful, and fulfilling gift to offer the world. If you’re feeling like producing real scientific data is your call, you can have the power to effect what gets published. You might feel like a slave starting out as a lab tech or assistant, but it’s a great start and you can still have ways to make a lasting impact on humanity. If you’re not feeling that call, that’s fine too! The passion you have for science is also a great thing to pass on to your kids and the next generation.

All of 'em, which I suspect you need.
