Also so many pro-vaccine posts. Posting any sort of legitimate information is instantly vilified and pro-vaccine rhetoric and anecdote related ove...

To be fair, none of you would know what good science looks like, much less how to interpret the results of a good study. It's likely none of you accept anything about medicine (or science in general) for very good reasons.

This is a little harsh Dorex. I can’t speak for others here, but my degree is in biochemistry at a tier one university. I have produced research both at a university and medical school level. I’ve gone to many panels to watch brilliant PhD candidates present data that took them years to gather, only to witness their ass get handed to them by a panel of scientists who are even more brilliant, who have dedicated their lives to an extremely specific field of knowledge, and are willing to take a microscope to every word and number and spend hours debating the validity. I know what it’s like to put in hundreds of hours pippetting, keeping cell cultures alive, counting colonies, waiting nervously for machines to collect data while praying you didn’t mess at ANY single step or you’ve wasted your time. And hopefully to create a SINGLE graph of data that shows one single drug doesn’t interfere with one receptor of the human body. I’ve seen what it’s like to watch a dedicated scientist slowly deteriorate from a preventable cancer he acquired from working with radiation at your lab-literally sacrificing his life and leaving his young kids behind in an effort to produce that “good science” you’re referring to, and hopefully save lives in doing so. So yeah, I have some idea. It seems like to take this stuff seriously. If so, I wish you the best on completing your biology degree. There’s still a need for more honest scientists who want to contribute more than faulty data showing replacing natural fat with sugar in yogurt is somehow good for you.

I can't tell if I'm being encouraged, scolded, or bragged to.

I think I can read studies well enough to understand them and interpret if they good, average or bad and interpret the results of any study to a point where it is useful to me, even if I don't comprehend it 100%.

I accept many things about science and medicine and reject many things, both for what I think are good reasons.

Wanna do a little reading session and put this to the test, then?

What makes you think that none of us here would know what good science looks like or how to interpret the results of a good study? If you think that being trad means we're drooling retards or Luddites, think again.

If you're a woman, you're unlikely to be any kind of Scientist. If you're a trad woman, you're extremely unlikely to be any kind of Scientist. Hell, I'll even go so far as to say most people aren't scientists. The same way a doctor wouldn't expect me to know what the proper treatment for Trychinosis is, I don't expect any of you to know what a sound, rigorously controlled study looks like. Much less what the esoteric results of one might suggest.

If you think that being trad means we're drooling retards or Luddites, think again.

You're taking this personally, and it's not letting you see what's happening. I already made the post OOTB asked for and now I'm waiting to talk to her about the science that goes into these studies.
