Homemade Playdough

This is a cooked recipe. I find I get better results with this one, but it takes a bit longer.

  • 2 cups plain/all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup salt

  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar

  • 2 cups of water

  • Put all dry ingredients in a saucepan.

  • Add water and oil.

  • Cook slowly and stir all the time. As it gets hot it will begin to thicken up.

  • Divide and Knead on a floured surface

  • Add coloring and Essential oils and work in.

It will look marbled at first but keep going.

I used about 20 ish drops of food coloring and 10-15 drops of the following Essential Oils: Lavender for purple, Ambient Rose for Pink, Rosemary for Green and Fighting Five for Blue.

When the kids are done playing I will store them in plastic bags in the fridge.

As there are no preservatives in it, if mould sets in throw it out and make some more. :)
