You could draft a pattern.

If you buy one, I really recommend a historical recreation from a company like Past Patterns. Modern aprons don't give the coverage to really keep a gal clean.

Thank you, this would be my first project like this so probably buying one will be good. I'll check out this site when I get home, thank you, you guys are so inspiring to make our own things and a garden apron would be a very good thing for this summer.

The site is an interesting collection of patterns. There is also Ageless patterns but they tend to have original instructions only and strange old time terminology.

If ypu aren't up to a purchase, I recommend making a doll sized draft first. Traditionally a girls first sewing creation would have been clothing for her dolls. You can work out problems without wasting lots of fabric. Happy sewing though.

Lol, I just have a good memory. Strange upside of being descended from people that were illiterate until like a hundred years ago.
