I think an "effective" public information advertisement, would be one which helps somebody make a very difficult decision.

This "pro-life" ad doesn't try to do that. It tries to foist a particular choice onto somebody who is confronted with a terrible quandary.

What would be better would be something in itself more balanced. I understand this advertisement might be intended to be considered within a wider context of other advertising, but it is not how it has been presented here.

Having said that, I think that the power of this advertisement comes from the extent to which it did try to present the alternative at the same time. I don't think I have seen an even handed approach taken in advertisements brought forward by the other side.
