Or how about this beautiful regulation?... Let's say you already own an AR-15 rifle that can't be converted into a pistol (see my next door post). It's stored responsibly in your safe. You want to get an AR-15 pistol, but don't yet have one (and don't yet have a lower received that can be made into a pistol). You figure "I'll get the parts kit for a pistol now and get the stripped lower next month." So you get the pistol parts kit and store it responsibly in your safe.

Congratulations, you have just committed a felony. You see, the ATF considers that as long as you have the parts to convert your rifle into a Short Barrel Rifle (SBR), the parts don't have any other "useful purpose", and they are "placed in close proximity", that's really just as good as creating an SBR. It does not matter that you have not and don't ever plan to assemble these parts into an SBR. As far as the ATF is concerned, you've already made it.

Holy shit that is spectacular. But I dunno man, I heard that gun is fully semi automatic so it’s pretty dangerous and there’s no reason you need one to begin with.

Why you would need to shoot a 30 magazine clip in half a second, I don't know.
