Spend the extra few dollars for platinum plugs, fewer changes, better performance and mileage. Do it yourselfers should get a spark plug gap tool, or feeler gauges to confirm the gap, don't assume they are gapped correctly by the factory.

Examine the old plugs as they are removed, there should be a light grey deposit on them. Black deposits indicate an oil ring issue.

They are an option, more expensive, longer lasting certainly. Good info here

Depends how long you mean to keep the vehicle I suppose.

Top tip,if access is hard due to a recessed type plug hole use 3/8 hose slipped over the ceramic end...in the case of cross threading the rubber hose will slip unlike a socket and save the threads in the head.....a simple job but can turn into disaster if you damage the plug threads in the cyl head even experianced techs can have a mishap this trick has saved me a few times

Yes, I have had to re-tap threads in a head and also do a helicoil repair. This is a bitch and you do NOT want to do that unless you don't have much else to do on Saturday. Be careful with those threads!

I'd also say to invest in a few 1inch extensions. You can slip the socket in the recessed hole, then add some 1" extensions until you have the correct length. This is great when you need an extension, but only have a few inches of clearance.

Also helps to use an appropriate plug socket with a rubber ring inside a lot of people try a deep socket but this can go bad quockly if it slips

Correct, however I know men that don't know how to do this. One of the reasons this sub exists is is to spread common everyday knowledge that should be known but isn't. Things like turning your water on and off are not common knowledge at this point and it's a travesty.

you have no idea how easy it is to fuck up tho..... tighten till snug, then anther 1/8 1/4 quarter turn no more no less

this is cars 101 by the way its easy

not on all cars tho, mine you have remove a bunch of crap to even get to them. but i use iridium plugs so pretty much last forever

I've always been a "figure it out" guy. I wanted to change the spark plugs on my first car (Ford Taurus) many many years ago. Read up on what I needed to do. Finally get the hood open to discover.. they designed the engine such that the spark plugs were down at the bottom what seemed like a 12" well.

Went to every auto store I knew of, nobody had a socket that long. Told me only the dealership had them.

It was from that point onwards, I hated modern cars.

Hay!! That's how I do my oil changes. When it's time.. just get another that with good oil in it.

PROTIP: never run low on oil. It is more important to have oil than to have it changed. Yes oik changes are good. Change it when it gets dirty for the longest oil change intervals. Running black oil will work but it is not great to do.

Dirty oil is far better than no oil!

The dealership said I had a lifetime oil change, so I'll never have to change mine.

Fun Fact: Large aircraft have filters all over for things like engine oil and hydraulic fluid. Every single one has a bypass valve just in case it gets clogged, because unfiltered oil is better than no oil at all, especially if you're 30,000 feet in the air.
