You are right, see my post above for one option. Another solution would be to cut out the insurance companies, not completely (that won't happen, they want their money) but if we could, you have a group a doctors all with specific specialties, you pay them a yearly "policy premium" and use their services as needed. Maybe a $1,000 premium and then when you visit you pay a small co-pay $5 -$100 depending on the service you are getting.
Then, you purchase a separate critical care plan that covers hospital and critical illness from the insurance companies that allow people to choose the type of coverage they want al la carte. Not having kids, maternity and fertility is not part of the coverage for your main policy, etc.
