I was in a meeting today. Everyone was a new face to nearly everyone else, so nametags were in order.
A facilitator brought me a stack of "blank" nametags, only they weren't blank at all. Printed out on the bottom of each was "Please use..." and then either "she/her/hers" or "him/him/his" or "xe/xim/xys" (I kid you not), there was a whole selection and I didn't go through them.
I said, "isn't this oppressive? Forcing us to play this pronoun game? I want a blank one."
There was a stack of blank ones, hidden. And she pulled it out and let me write my name on the blank one. Luckily someone else wrote his on a blank one too, so I didn't look like a freak.

You wouldn't have been the one that looked like the freak.
