Alaska seems very strange. One of my old gaming friends lives in Valdez, and I can't even imagine being that cut off from the outside world.
Whittier almost seems...cult like. People knowing every one else's business. You can't escape your neighbors. You can't even see the sun for weeks sometimes.
I'm pretty spoiled by convenience where I live, so this is pretty alien to me. Even when I lived in the boonies, I was still in the same district as a ghetto as hell high school and only a half hour away from a grocery store in that same ghetto.
This reminds me of the talks I had with my friends about shacking up in a Wal-Mart if there was ever a zombie apocalypse. We had that shit all planned out. There's Sterno, ammunition, non perishable food, the works. Hotwire some cars to barricade the doors and it's pretty secure.
