I remember reading an article complaining about Robert Orci being hired to direct Star Trek 3, and the point of the article "why won't Paramount hire a woman director?"
The writer of the article, a woman, neglected to mention or make reference to any established female directors like Catherine Hardwicke, Patty Jenkins, Karyn Kusama or Kathryn Bigelow (just to name some), and instead focused the entire article whining about how misogynistic the film industry is.
While the writer may have a point, she neglected to realise you can't make someone do something they don't want to do just because of their gender. What if none of these female directors are interested in Star Trek 3? Also, having just finished a film class, our class literally had one female in it.
Female directors do exist, and the playing field is better because of it, but the issues are simply down to interests, skill set and box office history.
I didn't find out if the writer responded (doubtful) but I'm getting sick of these arguments that are one-sided and ill-informed.
So would Cosmopolitan be alright turning men away (let's, for argument's sake, say straight men) because Cosmo isn't aimed at them? Of course, because Cosmo is aimed at women, made by women for women.
The Mary Sue exists, catering for all nerdy things from a female perspective, so why can't one gaming site using a gimmick of being a man gaming site do the same? I'm not defending the rejection of people simply based on gender, but if they don't have the skills, they don't deserve the job.
EDIT: Also, Anita Sarkeesian is a disease that threatens true equality, and going to different language versions of the wiki article linked on that sub proves the bullshit editing on the English version. The whole thing was simply about ethics in gaming journalism which got turned into a circlejerk for "boo hoo we're poor defenceless women everyone attacking us is a man because we're women", no, you're being attacked because 1) you're dishonest 2) Don't even get me started on Wu's self-trolling 3) you're diverting attention from the actual issue, devs sleeping/dating with gaming journalists for good reviews.

The whole thing makes me feel sick. Like that entitled brat who tried to take down Stephen Colbert for making an anti Asian slur joke.
I love women and think they are entitled to everything men are within limits of gender of course.
The problem is not men or women. It is all people. Why does everyone think they have a right to be offended all the time? All these idiots (men and women) would better spend their time helping the homeless, jobless or friendless than taking up non causes and making an issue out of non issues. Or better yet, join a religion and go on some overseas missions and see how 99% of the world are barely getting by while they drink diet coke and drive their SUV.

People have a right to be offended, it's just that being offended shouldn't, in itself, provide any additional rights.
There's nothing really wrong with being offended, the problem is when people use that to change things within the world. Change the content others can experience, for example.
