Makes sense, there's much less stigma attached to people of the same sex fighting.

Quite a few famous sports center around man on man and woman on woman smack downs.

There is a much higher rate of childhood sexual abuse in lesbians versus heterosexual women, so higher abuse rights by them aren't surprising.

It's easier to fight frequently if no one ever gets hurt. If Ronda Rousey fought her hypothetical girlfriend, it would likely be the only fight they ever had. It would be interesting to see the stats adjusted for combat effectiveness. I bet gay men inflict more damage on each other than lesbians despite having fewer fights.

I would say it's more of an options thing.

When your potential dating pool is less then 2% of the population you are willing to deal with character flaws just so you aren't alone.

This would also be true for the really ugly, morbidly obese, and people with physical maladies.
