no it's really not. those lights aren't hard to get rid of and they're typically not expensive if you catch them early. I live in PA and fail a lot of them but they dont' have to fail, just put some money into your car sometimes.
also, with that scanner and the internet, we're (mechanics) are almost useless. you can do everything yourself in your driveway short of autonomous safety calibrations and related shit
