My first computer was an Acer Pentium 60mhz that I purchased in 1994. Most of that particular model sold were white, and looked like this. Mine however, was black. At the time, it was the only desktop on sale that wasn't white, and it really stuck out even among Acer's other models. They must have sold a bunch of them, because the Aspires that came out a year or so later were all dark colored. I really liked that old box. It looked mean, and had a fair amount of power for its day.
You should have seen the look on my nerd friends' faces when they learned I had 8 whole mb of RAM. Who could possibly use that much? I was all set to buy a 486DX66 with 4mb like my buddy had, since I knew it would be able to play Doom in full resolution. But that black Acer really stood out. I couldn't help but up-sell myself. I think it may have been a couple hundred more. Well worth it.

P60 in 94? You had a hotrod back then! ;)
I got mine in 94 as well but it was a Leading Edge 486sx 33mhz with a whopping 4MB ram and a 2x cd-rom that didnt fully eject. You literally had to pull the tray all the way out to pop in your cd!
Then i discovered computer shows a short while later and it was all downhill from there. I was hooked bad :D

TL.DW: It was the Germans.
Plus, it wasn't beige, the color was called 'putty'. I have no idea why, but it is the color of Silly Putty.

I think he actually touches on that in the video. Apparently there is a whole book on the history of the thinkpad.
Good watch or play it in the background
