One main issue I had with the other place was the rampant re and crossposting.
When I come to voat, I want to see new, fresh content, not recycled, three year to minute-old cat pictures posted several times to different subverses from the other place and other sites we've already been to.
I do understand that when one person finds a story about SpaceX's new rocket successfully landing in an upright position, they are probably super stoked! The first thing on their mind must be, "Shit! I should post this"!
Now that they have met the link section screen and began to type up their presentation, they have to wonder, where does this fit best? Where will the most people see this? And where can I get the most sweet, sweet upvoats?
Often times, speaking only for coverage's sake, posting to multiple subverses means more views, which should be the soul and sole purpose of why we post on the first place; the urge to share good news.
The squabble I have with this, is that it dilutes the lists of posts, making it more of a chore, weeding out not only posts that don't interest you, but those post's crossposts, and the crossposted crosspost's of the original posts themselves.
This separates and distributes the comments therein to different subverses, duplicating questions, giving information that may or may not be the consensus from one post to another, and just basically displaying poor organization.
Now, I am diverging my own post into a suggestion which would then lean this into another possible subverse (go figure).
Let's break apart from the other place. For many reasons already known, voat is superior. Lets add another point to that ever-growing list.
I propose a new functionality:
When posting a new link or discussion, a primary subverse is selected. After that, a number of (possibly limitless?) secondary subverses are selected.
Here's the catch: there is only one 'real' thread! The secondary subverses link to the primary subverse's post. All comments made, discussions had, information given, upvoats, and downvoats applied, regardless of origin, lead to the main thread.
This allows for the spread of information without the loss of continuity.
Another implementation, which could be more or less difficult, is cloning the entirety of the comments and voats to each of the crossposts in their respective subverses, making and maintaining full copies of each.
Thank you so much if you got all the way down this post. I hope to add a lot to this site in my time here. Expect more, and I will do my best to make this the shining star of a community that it is and has the chance to be.

I made a comment that contained a part of that idea, it was generally not well thought of because it fixes too many of voat's problems I guess.

The first thing I noticed was how large it was. It seems that you gave your post a lot of thought. That must have taken a bit of time and effort. Well done.
Aside from that, there are some fresh ideas, but they seem to take so much from SD. The voting system you have presented is also much more diverse. Seems like stickers.
The main problem I see with your post is that it is very diminutive (if I am using that correctly) towards voat.
If you refine your post, which I need to do also, and put a more positive spin on it, you may see it gain more traction and become fruitful.

I don't feel that diminutive is the right word, generally it means small... I was more critical of it.
I was not dismissive, I was hostile.
I don't think that criticism needs to be positive, it needs to be critical.
And why shouldn't I be hostile to voat? It has done nothing as of yet to prove it is any better than reddit or digg, it functions in the same way. Claiming to be an alternative to something while not doing things differently seems to be the laziest form of competition.
For me it becomes very similar to what is known as bikeshedding. Arguing on which colour the bikeshed should be, when the bike shed isn't even built.
If Coke and Pepsi tasted alike they would not be alternatives to eachother, they would be alternative labels for eachother. This is what voat is. reddit-lite - all the problems and only one one thousandth of the userbase.
