Yeah, I've got a guy in Farmington. I haven't been able to lately, due to a smashed femur and laziness, but I normally bring him a few each month just to have him give them a solid cleaning and inspection. I kinda rotate through them that way. I also send him all my new (used) pieces that I buy. He does important things like inspect for fungus and shit like that. Then he cleans and repairs anything needing it. I just consider it to be pretty much like a utility bill.
I could see that. I’ve tried to explain this to my wife, but it hasn’t quite sunk in.
I looked up the glue you recommended... Shelf life is 2-3 years. You don’t know what you’re talking about. ;D
I’d wager it’s not something your luthier uses on the regular... Perhaps if they are repairing something where this sort of epoxy-like glue was previously used.
LOL I already corrected that. I had to try to remember what the packaging said, 'cause I was too lazy to go look it up again.
And, yeah... I consider it an expense. It's just what I need to do to keep my collection in good condition and to preserve them for the next generation to experience. I'm pondering some sort of loaner library thing to entrust my collection to (from what the heirs don't want to keep, as I'm sure they'll want some). I'm more a steward than an owner.
