I strongly suspect that much of Voat is entirely unimportant and that's their problem.

They have, as a general rule, zero accomplishments of measurable worth. They have no realistic hope of having any in the future. That's the problem. They're hopeless and haven't ever accomplished anything to make themselves feel better about who they really are.

It's a damned shame, but I'm hard pressed to actually give a shit. I'm kinda apathetic and an asshole.

I can see that. I only recently in the last 2 years accomplished one of my life goals. I cant speak for the rest of Voat; but accomplishing anything you set out to do is hard, add to that most of us are white and the bar for us is set really high as far as standards of living, wealth, etc., its hard to get motivated or at the least NOT be apathetic towards *your current situation.

*not specific to you @TheBuddha. In generalities.

If I were less apathetic, I'd suggest folks find a meaningful goal and then achieve it. It's amazing to see the difference in people once they've started actually achieving goals and working towards goals.

Being hopeless has to be terrifying and a horrible way to live.
