I do remember Kilroy, and am guilty myself of doodling it. It was supposedly drawn by servicemen during WWII in foreign lands. I also 'member Ziggy, but never associated it with Kilroy, as the cartoon was current and Kilroy was history.
Thanks for the kind words, here and there. Like any old house, the attic gets filled with all sorts of useful, and more frequently useless, pieces of life that didn't get thrown away.
I knew Owly had many interests but wasn't aware he could spin a yarn so well. He certainly contributes a lot of knowledge on a variety of subjects and I've learned a lot from the stuff he posts.

See? I only knew it as Ziggy. I was reasonably sure you'd remember/know more than I did!
You're pretty much a national treasure, with that archival memory and dedication.
Oh, on Poal there's a lovely story from Owly in the guitar riff submission.
