Yeah. She will fuck up. We all do. I'll pick her up, dust her off, and make sure she learned a lesson.

I've grown quite fond of her, of you haven't noticed. She will be given the support and tools she needs. She will have the opportunity to make something of herself.

I won't just give it to her. She has to work. She has to be productive. Even my own children have to work and be productive. EH works on the farm for at least six hours per week. She shovels shit, literally. She takes care of horses that belong to rich snobs and get borded on the farm.

Everyone has to work, except the missus. The missus gets a pass, but she still works.

I also make my kids work for it. No way in hell will they turn out like most trust fund kids. That's against everything that I am.

LOL Both my kids actually have a trust fund. If they did absolutely nothing, I'll still support them.

Their fund is equated with the initial amount they started with and they can only take out so much per month. It works out to about $900 a month. ;-)

Yup... They can do nothing if they want. They will be fucking poor and damned near homeless.

If they do NOT take it out, it gets re-invested and they can withdraw those sums out as lump sums. So, if they're smart and save their money, they'll be able to make big purchases without going into debt.

Neither kid uses it. They just let the money accrue. My daughter took some out for her house and my son used some of his while he was in college and first moved to Peru.

So, they do have a trust fund - but it's not what people think of when they think of a trust fund. EH will almost certainly have one as well. I already put some money into an emergency account for her, just in case there was some legal issues with her mother. Those funds are so she can point and say, "This belongs to me. I can financially take care of myself." That's in case she needs to go through emancipation and if something were to happen to me. A judge will award her emancipation, no questions asked. She's 16 and has enough assets to provide.

I'm probably a little more lenient than you - but I'm not so stupid as to make them not have to work for it. THAT is against everything I am. They'll need to work, if they want to remotely enjoy life. I won't let them go hungry, but they can survive on Ramen noodles.
