I’m more talking about protection from personal injury lawsuits.

It’s probably a little different for me, as while the event quotes I’ve received do claim coverage for equip. damage/theft, my business insurance is what I actually rely on to protect the equipment from theft and damage.

I also (thankfully; I don’t even want to say this because it scares me) have yet to have to file a claim or be sued for anything transpiring at a show or event, although my attorney claims I have the right coverage. There was one unfortunate incident where the band was opened up to rather large liability... but they thankfully never filed suit.

I used to work with a lead singer that loved to jump into the audience and fight. (This was during the alternative/grunge and mix of punk was in full swing.)

That resulted in two lawsuits that I can recollect. Suffice to say, we were not insured.

He'd get shitfaced, hop off the stage, and fight with the audience. I used to jump down and help him but I gave that up pretty quickly. He can get his ass kicked by himself. He didn't need my help. Seriously, he'd scream something about how he was going to kick some faces in and jump down into the mosh pit. Goodbye, Mr. Lead Singer. Have fun down there. I'm gonna sit up here and play music.

And we got sued, twice. Went to the lockup once. He went several times.

Ah, good times, really. I kinda miss 'em.
