When I am elected Dictator for Life, I'll punish them severely on your behalf, and ensure you're given one mint a day, even if you don't buy lunch at Sonic.

Strangely, I've had many, many people ask me to run for a State office. I gave it serious consideration and even went so far as to collect all the signatures I needed. Then, I started my campaign, even getting a logo designed...

Which is when I started getting phone calls and visits. It's when people began to talk to me more openly about their experiences in office. I had all sorts of people trying to be my new friend and offering to help fund my campaign, even though I'd clearly stated that I'd both fund it myself and donate my salary to a local charity. They still wanted to fund m campaign, campaign on my behalf, put signs in their places of business, and things like that. I was even offered 'free' air time on local radio, wink wink nudge nudge...

The truth is, I'm pretty well liked and probably had a good chance of winning, as it's a very small area and it's pretty easy to be well known.

I did not turn in my signatures and declined to officially be put on the ballot, though a few people told me that they wrote my name in. I'd been planning on running for the State Senate and I got like 16 votes, that I know of, even though I'd not been on the ballot and not even placed a single sign.

Why did I not run? I have morals. Ethics are situational. Morals are absolute. I could not run for office and still feel clean or good about myself. I'm positive I could not hold office and feel like I was an acceptable human being.

The offers of things that I could have, entirely uninvited and not initiated by me, was absurd. An unnamed car dealership even offered to 'loan' me a car for use while campaigning. I had offers to buy even more land at obscenely low prices. I had restaurants offering me my dinner at no cost. I had people offering to violate campaign donation laws by putting their donations in the names of their friends and relatives.

So, I am not an elected official.
