I've ended up in one of those pay me for what I know, not what I do, jobs. It sucks. I miss the "go fix things" jobs I had earlier in my career. People would leave me alone for days and everything would get fixed. Now it's my job to analyze the people that fix things and ensure they're doing their job. Fuck.

You sound a bit like me, I prefer proactive to reactive but can groove it either way.
It’s sounds like a comfortable set up and you really bless people here on Voat, so you win really. You gotta glide the off days though, find things that interest you, learn a new language, computer or verbal. Keep the time clicking over but stimulating your mind somehow. I would seriously miss you if you couldn’t come on Voat!

I'm learning Python. I want to learn it for AI research. But my employer is encouraging it (and paying the bill) because "Data Science" is a buzz word right now. I mean I can already do stuff in SQL, but that's so old and busted. The 80's called. Etc. Python is the "WAVE OF THE FUTURE"!!!
