This only happens in the US and some other Western countries that have a very twisted, convoluted view on ChildrenTM.

Maybe it's the side effect of watching porn. I will explain this "maybe" if needed.

Yeah, I thought so too, but I actually don't like that type of porn ("Hey Melissa, your mother hired me to teach you how to play the flute" or "someone called to fix the plumbing" "yes mister, there's a hole that needs plugging, right here!" kinda kills it for me - maybe because I care about acting and porn acting is shit so I prefer it if they just cut the crap and fuck already). But it's not just porn, pretty much any sitcom or stand-up comedy act as well, and I do enjoy the sexual innuendos in those a lot (I'm thinking HIMYM, Family Guy, etc.)

Because men are horrible and are to blame for everything, dontchaknow?

History. I think you see this attitude start to develop in the 1970s when serial child molestation starts to become a big problem in some communities and makes news. Dangerous pedos ruined it for all men and it will take a lot for society to regain that lost trust.

Why would you want to interact with a child if it's not your own? Sure kids are cute, but that gets old quick.

Because you can help Make America Great Again(TM)
A kid going into science is a kid not going into gender studies ^^
All joking aside I see it as giving back to society for what other people gave to me, and IMHO in a much better way than governments even could. Schools don't encourage children, and schools that try to encourage children fare even worse. At least in my family. We don't like institutionalised "education is fun" very much, we think it comes at the cost of the education part. The best education is the education you give yourself when you're interested in something. And educational institutions trying to make education fun generally come over as disingenious because the teachers don't actually think it's fun, but their little handbook given to them by the government says "make education fun" somewhere in it. The most fun teachers I had weren't the ones trying to make education fun, they were the one who genuinely enjoyed teaching, and those were actually the ones that the "fun police" thought were outdated (thinking back that might've been because nearly all were white old men, while all the try-hard "fun" teachers who weren't any fun were women ...)
