Everyone has to deal with people who are snarky and rude. The cops that are being nice and putting up with "rude" people who know their rights are doing exactly what they should be. Case in point, these guys were sitting on the sidewalk when cops started hassling them. When one guy tries to call his boss to verify their story of them waiting on a ride he gets a face full of concrete courtesy of those 2 nice police officers.

yea, the worst videos obviously show something wrong. but why can't we have a body cam do the recording? i dont see why people need to be using their phones. it just screams "im not on your side, im going to make sure to humiliate you if you fuck with me"

I'm not saying cops shouldn't have body cams. I'd like to see them with body cams, but they cost the department or local municipality money. Money they have to get from taxes (or civil asset forfeiture, but thats another issue). Camera phones are extremely prevalent in society. So much so that some encounters get filmed from multiple angles from multiple people at the same time. Hell, there are prepaid phones that cost $9.99 you can get at a gas station that are equipped with video cameras. And just as you say:
the same argument could be said about the body cams because the cop controls when they're on and when they're off. I don't see what the problem is with filming cops. If some cops get caught violating the rights of citizens and get in trouble for it then great.
