I never cared to know what a chromebook is but I'll assume you're only half acurate and its more hardware based. Yes the technology is already here but it hasnt been "sold" to us or rolled out. Looks like it's in testing phases with companies right now. Once they have perfected it, the marketing will begin and the idiots will line up. If it's succesful it's not irrational to think the outlawing of owning computing hardware happening. "Why does a citizen need a fully semi-automatic quantum computer?! Only people who worship the infamous hacker 4chan want it to blast us to tears with memes."

Chromebooks have enough resources to run Chrome and not much else. Yes, you can install Linux on it, but it probably won't run well.

So it's weaker than a pi. The browser is not streamed though right? I know I know might as well be.
