Same word, my spelling is just more american/intuitive. Ive only ever known slough(the version that rhymes with trough) to mean what happens to bone-in meat after its cooked for 10 hours over a low flame.

Yeah, i think slough is the more french spelling, more vowels than needed and using gh instead of an f, all in all very "je ne sais quois" if you catch my meaning
