Shit, I know about Denver. If you want an actual house in Denver proper and you don't want to live anywhere near the hood, $300k isn't even close to being enough. Tell me I'm wrong.

Not wrong. Denver and Boulder are horrible for afford-ability. It's the new Cali-Col corridor(Boulder-Denver). This is causing upto 40 miles outside of Denver proper to get Massive price increases. I've watched houses double in price in 6 years. Everything is well above the housing bubble high.
