It wasnt bullshit. Just because some scammers made money off of idiots doesnt make it fake. If it hadnt been fixed it would have fucked the world. Its an absolutely terrible comparison.

Why is it then that places that didn't bother implementing any "fixes" didn't have negative repercussions? Nothing bad or catastrophic happened after Y2K, which would have been the case if it was as bad as alarmists said it would have been because one of either two things was ever going to happen: A) There would have been some stragglers that didn't bother with any fixes, or B) Some outright refused to put any changes into effect. In either case if what you're saying was true then we would have seen some major issues either way, but we didn't. In your scenario you're saying that it was only because everyone magically was able to fix every computer just in time, which is a ludicrous statement. This isn't the movies, man.
