At first the scenery and atmosphere makes it worth it, even rarely in the case of vacation. If you live on a coast and go to the beach regularly, the muscles in your feet and legs adapt. At that point, when you put on shoes you feel like you have superpowers as far as muscle control goes. As @DRSE said, you're better off starting closer to the water line and then moving back. If you start trying to truck away on the loose sand it's not gonna be pleasant or beneficial.
