There is an old saying:

The worst thing a politician could ever do is solve somebody's problem.

One guy tried that. For the rest of eternity, no one will ever be allowed to come up with a Final Solution to anything ever again.

"Homeless Industrial Complex"

No, San Francisco Does Not Spend $36,000 Per Year On Every Homeless Person

Tl;dr: no one knows just how much is really spent, but it's a ton. At $241 million, the number of people profiting off serving the homeless is probably much greater than the number of homeless themselves.

Indubitably. This is a huge problem the social justice movement suffers from. There is no clearly defined end goal, they just keep fighting for the "marginalized" with no sense of perspective for the major positive change that has occured or the fact that America is the best country in the world for the marginalized. Absolute equality is not only impossible, it is undesirable.

There is no clearly defined end goal, they just keep fighting for the "marginalized"

Or inventing new categories of "the marginalized." A classic example is the gay movement. They literally used up the whole alphabet like the 2005 hurricane season, and have to go into Greek letters and Unicode symbols now. They're just making up sexual/gender identities as they go along, the same way you can attach any prefix to "-phobia" and have it be a thing. Pity the poor "retrosexuals" who identify as 1982-kin, and can't find anyone to satisfy their fetish for Betamax porn because everyone's on PornHub now!

A closely-linked parallel to this "madness" is the "diversability" movement, which is a borderline threat to public health and is a lot more anti-science than the overblown stereotype of religious conservatives claimed to still be challenging the verdict of the Scopes trial. These are people like the "deaf culture" group who don't want their children to have cochlear implants and learn to speak and hear, because they equate it to colonialists wiping out the Native American languages and African "click tongue" dialects. The autism lobby that considers a devastating birth defect to be a misunderstood mutant superpower if not (gasp) a racialized theory of Jewish intellectual supremacy coupled with neuroticism (cf. David Mamet). The "mad pride" lobby that is indistinguishable from Scientology and considers schizophrenia and bipolar disorder to be a misunderstood connection to spirituality and art. The bizarre subgroup of intentional amputees with bodily integrity identity disorder who can't live with themselves unless they literally cut off their nose to spite their face.

Taking these people seriously as a reason why the APA should be shuttered and everyone simply declare "pride" in their "quirkiness" and no further cures be researched and found, is like abandoning the search for an AIDS cure because of the opinion of bug chasers. A pox on all their houses; then again, a plague is exactly what they want...

That must be why anything Anita Sarkeesian props up one day, she then finds a reason to be offended by the next.

War on Poverty
War on Drugs
War on Education

etc.

Actually solving the problem would reduce thousands of state jobs. No one works to undermine his job.
