To which. Being asked years ago what I wanted in life. The idea was maybe I'd say car, house, looker wife, PhD. Dunno. I gave it a moment and said "peace of mind." Turns out to be true.

The less you expect the less unhappy you are.

I don't feel like looking for it but there was this study done that stated pessimists were generally happier than optimists because the pessimists set their expectations lower. Then they were happy that their lower expectations were met. Conversely, the optimists would set higher expectations, then become more disappointed when those expectations weren't met.

This seems like it might be true, but I have to whole heatedly disagree. If we have an optimist and a pessimist in college both studying for an exam, the optimist is sure she will succeed and the pessimist is sure he will fail.

When they do well on the test the optimist is content having met their expectations, and the pessimist however happy about this turn of events sees it as a fluke. This does not increase his confidence or world outlook

When they do poorly the pessimist uses this evidence that they are a realist, and the optimist writes this off as a fluke.

People with low expectations do not often accomplish much, and using it as a shield against disappointment is a pretty bad trade.

Optimist- expecting success.

Pessimist- expecting failure.

Happiness- expecting nothing.

One of these things is not like the others...
