Lol you know that anybody can look at the modlog and see what comments were deleted, right? Besides which I was in this thread earlier before Nurdoidz got trigger-happy on the banhammer. There were no attacks or incitements to witch-hunts. It's funny that for such a notoriously strict subverse, all of the bannings happened in the last few hours against the very people that were called out in your post.

Yes, I do know. I also know none of that was my doing, and while I was offline when they happened I told Nurdoidz I wish they hadn't happened - but rules are rules. I wanted everyone to see what kind of people we're disagreeing with, and the "level" of discussion they have. That's the thing about rules that is being deliberately not understood: They exist for a minimum standard of discourse.

Additionally, if you look at the investigation and read the comments of these people, it's evident some of them are openly admitted trolls. We even quote them saying as much. If you break the rules, you will be banned or your comment removed - that's what rules are for.

Well I guess what I have a problem with in that instance is that what somebody says in another sub shouldn't really have any bearing on what happens in this sub. That's something that a lot of people had a problem with on reddit too. It's kind of like each sub is a different jurisdiction. You can be wary of somebody due to past interactions for sure but it isn't fair to ban somebody who didn't break the rules in your sub.
