I was just telling someone the other day that change is only hard in the beginning.

Way to make it through that uncomfortable phase.

Thanks, Putt. It really is getting through the first month or so that is the hardest because you have to break your old habits. I'm bored, light up a bowl. I can't tell you how many times I would reach out for a sip of my beer while I was reading something to only realize I don't drink anymore. Now I have water next to me at all times. I will never go back to my old life style. Hetfield is right "Your lifestyle determines your deathstyle"

I just want to say thanks for all you do for this place.

I quit drinking a month ago. I know that doesnt sound like shit, but its the longest period of sobriety since i was a teenager, about 20 years ago. Already feeling much better. Even went to the sports bar to watch the mariners stomp the a's, and just drank coffee. Wasnt even tempted to drink. Im over it.

Great job, man. The first couple months breaking the ha it are the hardest. Good for you

Careful with 'I'm over it'... It seems that way but it is easy to slip. Stay strong. Even at 5 years sober, I am not 'over it'.

Good for you!

People don't seem to realize drugs and alcohol don't make your life better. They make a shitty life easier to ignore.

[–] SweetChicken [S] 0 points 3 points (+3|-0) ago

Exactly this. They stop you from becoming who you want to be.

It's about kindness, love and self-respect towards yourself. Don't abuse yourself with all that shit, make yourself a gift of healthy happy life.

That's beautiful, man. Glad you've improved.

Have any religious changes?

[–] SweetChicken [S] 0 points 0 points (+0|-0) ago

Yes, actually. About six months into it I started going back to church for the first time in over 35+ years. I realized how most of my negative feelings towards church were because most of the time I was only there for funerals or baptisms. I have slacked these last few weeks but every time I go I feel better.

Well, thats good. I suggest you just crack open your king james bible on your own rather than being a passive viewer of a modern sermon. Thats just my two cents. God bless.

Spend some freetime researching conspiracy. Modern churches are not to be trusted. Interpret the word yourself. You dont need a human to interpret it for you.
