(Humour me on this)
Does the Scottish Government have an emergency contingency plan in place in the event of a EMP attack on the greater Edinburgh area?
Such an attack would do the following;
1: Cut off al communications (both public, government, emergency services)
2: Cut off all power with in a certain distance of the attack's focal point.
3: would affect ability of law enforcement to function. (No communication. No transport)
4: No functioning water supply within a 3 day period.
5: Hospitals wouldnt be able to function in power outage ,and no functioing ambulances/transport.
And thats just the tip of the "iceberg".
The reason i am highlighting this , is that the UK state in its wisdom decided to station a military cyber warfare unit in Edinburgh, (with no consent from the Scottish governments & illegal under the articles set forth in the Act of Union of 1707). Once an enemy state took out the main cyber warfare capability at Cheltenham GCHQ with an EMP, Edinburgh would be immediately next on the target list. Keep in mind also that Edinburgh doesnt have the infrastructure in place for the "effects" of a cyber warfare unit (aka constant DDOS attacks on computers in Edinburgh causing lag,crappy internet provision for locals, etc).
Just call it a hunch..... but i would suggest that if the Scottish govenment has an action plan in place that they update it, and make sure that the government can still operate in an environment without comms or tech for a certain time period.
