Death is the ultimate motivation: The fear of it, the lust of it, fuels every conflict. Such a path would remove the fire from every battle, and dim the allure of secrets of immortality and longevity. The possibility of return dims the allure of all mysteries, by reducing urgency. This is unacceptable.

Unless... This path. Make it difficult and dangerous. A long, arduous journey. Make this journey seem a fate worse than death, and failure seem as inevitable. Then I shall have no qualms.

One can change much on the journey back from death.
