Hi Guys! I was hoping that you could have some feedback for me. Although I am a fit lady, my secret is that i am a total sugar junkie. I was raised in a home where we constantly drank "fruit" juice and soda instead of water. I have detoxed from sugar once before and have decided that it's time to try again.
The last time I (cold-turkey) detoxed it was NOT fun. I was practically paralyzed with cluster migraines, awful memory, insomnia, and dizziness. I came across some literature which suggested that un-processed fruit based sugars interacted better with the body than refined sugar. I decided to curb cravings by replacing refined sugars with fruit. Detox came in the form of fruit smoothies, starting out with 100% fruit, and gradually replacing fruit with ice over time. Eventually I could simply have some fresh fruit and the craving would go away. The method of replacing refined sugar with natural sugar worked really well for me. It took me three months to detox, but it was totally worth it. Sadly I find myself in a situation where I need to detox again.
Except this time I don't have time to wip up a smoothie every time I start to get dizzy or foggy. I won't have access to a blender, and can't allow myself to get foggy because I'm working a job where I actually have to use my brain. My new plan is as follows. Drink a lot of water, take as much headache reliever as needed/safe. If a craving exceeds the power of aspirin then I may have some extra fresh fruit and possibly 100 mg of caffeine. ( to replace what I would normally get from soda)
I did a three day trial run, and I think that it just might work. Although, as soon as I get out of work my cravings hit full force. Perhaps I should go the smoothie route at dinner.
What do you think of my new plan?
