Diet soda is more harmful to the body than normal soda. Just start drinking water , you'll get over the sugar headaches after a week but also you'll notice how much better you feel mentally and physically. After a month you'll be grossed out that you ever drank soda in the first place and if you have one you'll notice how it actually takes energy away from you and how disgusting it'll make you feel.

Water never really scratches that itch. Even in the morning I do drink water my tongue is still dry and my spit is super watery until I drink a Coke. Plus I need caffeine and brewing or buying coffee isn't practical for me, especially when it's hot.

To me there is nothing better when I come home from being hot and thirsty and I pour a Coke over ice and when it touches my tongue I get an intense sensation of relief
