'Those supporters have pointed to the disparity in sentencing among Silk Road vendors and participants. '
'Ulbricht was the founder and administrator of the Silk Road darknet drug market, which used the Tor anonymity network to hide the location of servers and cryptocurrencies like bitcoin to allow users to purchase drugs anonymously. '
'In his final weeks in office before Joe Biden’s inauguration, President Donald Trump is weighing granting clemency to Ross Ulbricht, the founder and former administrator of the world’s most famous darknet drug market, Silk Road, The Daily Beast has learned. '
'Ulbricht founded Silk Road after graduating with a master’s degree in materials science from Penn State and continued to administer the site from his home in San Francisco. '
'Silk Road’s largest drug seller, Jan Slomp, received the second stiffest punishment after Ulbricht with a sentence of 10 years in prison. '

I mean Silk Road was undeniably used primarily for drug sales and other illegal content. But in the end, it's a bit like arresting the owner of the back alley where a junkie buys heroin.
I don't know, the War on Drugs is an obvious failure. Getting rid of Silk Road does nothing for the actual victims of this stuff. We need to continue to go hard against the Mexican cartels and other producers like (sigh) Afghanistan. And the prescription opioid crisis is massive and practically nothing is being done about it in this country.
Also Trump should have decriminalized marijuana on day one of his presidency.
All of it is depressing to think about, since no one wants to go easy on drug users. It's not a popular position for politicians.

Legalized, absolutely.
