Sadly, just because an individual or institution claims to be Catholic does not mean they are -- over decades, there has been so much rot and decay, watering down of teaching in many areas, that you must take responsibility to educate yourself of what the Church teaches, then compare that to what is being held or taught. If you start looking, there are many great sources for researching this (www.catholic.com, Fr. John Hardon's Catholic Catechism, Ludwig Ott's Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma, etc).
But here is a simple "Catholic-o-meter" to assess whether a school or individual actually is still Catholic:
1. Do they still believe Jesus is God, and founded the Catholic Church?
2. Do they still believe Holy Scripture is inspired by the Holy Spirit and is therefore inerrant?
3. Do they still believe in sexual moral teachings (contraception, fornication, masturbation, homosexual acts are all sinful)?
Jesus warned of wolves in sheep's clothing, and that is exactly the situation of the churches (and not just Catholic) today! Decades ago, a heretic/heterodox/leftist priest was asked on TV, "If you disagree with the Church on these issues, why don't you just leave it?" His answer was "I can effect change more efficiently by staying a member than as an outsider" -- this is the mindset of many who hate Christ's church and have chosen to destroy her from within. Also, many have naively been led astray, as we are now into 2nd, 3rd, or more generations, since modernism and other false teaching began being implemented in many Catholic seminaries, orders, and schools.
The good still exists, but you have to seek it out, become educated to what is authentic, expose what is evil and support what is good.

A fantastic, brand-new resource for learning and teaching Catholic doctrine is Barbara Morgan's book, "Echoing the Mystery". This systematically covers every single main doctrine taught by the Church, with extensive scriptural references, beautiful color artwork, poetry and music, to prepare individuals to understand and to teach the Faith. For each doctrine, it covers what should be taught, explaining what the doctrine means, how it connects to other truths, common misunderstandings, and primary sources and reasons for the doctrine. Cannot express highly enough how good this source is!
