Shouldn’t all that matter be the total death count for all deaths year over year. Wouldn’t that show the impact of the pandemic?

CDC has a graph of weekly "surplus" deaths. It is above the line.
What isn't clear to me is how many of those above-the-line deaths could be caused by other things, such as people with serious health conditions not getting treatment. It's also been reported that a year's worth of suicide attempts happened in four weeks.
