I understand what you mean, but what Trump is doing is what he always does- he puts these criminals in the spotlight, where they become full of hubris- and they trip up and out themselves. Nobody would know to go after Fauci at all if Trump hadn’t elevated him. And now, the left keeps hailing him as a hero, meanwhile Fauci looks shadier and shadier, and that shade is going to rub off on everybody that promoted him. Will some of that shade rub off on POTUS? Maybe, but that is the price he is paying for us. He is taking all the rocks and arrows for us.

Bards of War had an explanation that really resonated with me on that point.

FWIW, it went like this: If Trump had not appointed Fauci, or worse, had fired him, then the MSM would have hailed Fauci with all sorts of "expertise" to intentionally paint Trump as even more stupid, and Fauci's "rat factor" would never have been exposed to anyone other than the regular tinfoil hat folks.
A lot of people see that Fauci has personal financial motives that are a huge conflict of interest now; if Trump had played it differently then most would think Fauci was a respectable genius—the same way that 20 years ago most thought Bill Gates was a respectable genius.
