Taxes only though. Months ago people were spreading false rumors it was going to be all out loan, debt and mortgage forgiveness. I’m sure the IRS isn’t pleased with this announcement as normies begin to realize the IRS is now viewed as less mandatory than they were before this announcement.

One step at a time ok?

I agree here.

That goes without saying. Just making sure people don’t misinterpret this like the last time this came up, then announce they plan on taking out as many loans as possible because they think it’s all going to be wiped clean. Greed makes people do dumb things.

False rumors? You KNOW this how?

I agree with the guy, betting on erasing debt (meaning business will have to eat the loss) is silly. Guess I can afford the downvotes as I’ve hit top comment on a lot of front page threads this week.

Common sense. You really think the guy that was fiscally responsible to avoid debt, lived within his means, paid off college/mortgages first will be ok that the people that recklessly bought large houses, boats and new cars while taking on more debt should have those wiped? If you believe that strongly that all debt will be erased, I’m sure you’ll rush to the bank Monday morning and take out as large of a loan as you possibly can. You and the 3 other people that don’t understand finance.

the IRS has been forgiving back tax debt for months. I'm a lawyer. I have clients this has happened to. I was shocked - to put it mildly. Didn't think it would actually happen. Right now, it looks like at least some debt is being forgiven on taxes that were due for the years 2017 and earlier. . From my understanding on the Mortgage/loan forgiveness issue.. there are some who believe there will be a return of "overcharged" interest on mortgages, loans and credit cards. Time will tell how far this goes. I certainly don't know. But, with what I've seen lately, it just might be better than I thought.
