The magnetic fields from high voltage transmission lines inducing enough electricity in grounded (in this case literally) florescent bulbs to make a glow. And yes in electrics, the term grounded was literally chosen, as all home "grounds" are electrically connected to the earth.

Its really not that scary as they do demonstrations with this and Tesla coils in their hands all the time. That would be people transmitting 100,000 volts through their bodies without even feeling it because its static electricity...

This is only spooky if you don't understand a damn thing about electromagnetism.

I mean come on, all of human history all humans have lived under the most powerful electro-magentic dynamo anybody has ever conceived of. Its called the planet earth and its magnetosphere, which is weak at any one point but Staggeringly powerful in its total scale. Thing is biological organisms are basically utterly immune to any effects of magnetic fields.

it is not the voltage that kills you, it is the current.

I'm not sure about your last line. It's my understanding electrical linesman have a lower life expectancy from working around these lines. As well, there is a pretty good case to be made, large jumps in technology are associated with increased human diseases, syndromes.... issues.
