I'm an IT guy. One day while troubleshooting a routine issue I captured evidence of NSA capturing all our data (encrypted) between our headquarters and one of our European locations. I showed it to my boss, just to be transparent. She was SHOCKED and asked if there was anything we could do. I laughed and said no, just understand that this is happening. We all knew it was but I never dreamed I'd get actual proof.

I’d expect the NSA could cut through standard encryption rates like butter (which is probably why they’re the standard. You’d probably have to ramp it up 100 fold before it starts giving them them trouble.

They did, there was absolutely no delay whatsoever. The only way I knew they were in the middle of our tunnel is their equipment replied to a trace route (with a 6.x.x.x address). Someone forgot to turn off ICMP on their equipment.....ooooops. They did eventually disable ICMP though.

Working in IT in Europe, I know what you mean.

I worked in the past for an ISP that proxied ALL European customers through a New York proxy. That was the most blatant things I ever saw.

What was the proof?

How did you know it was NSA?

Was it hardware?
