I read the same article and agree with you 100%. I think the fact that surprised me most is that 60% of the food supply is consumed outside of the grocery store supply chain, which would include restaurants, school cafeterias, etc. That means only 40% is consumed by those who cook food at home.

It is imperative that our economy be reopened and that restaurants, etc. get back to business as usual ASAP. There is no short term solution nor is it practical to increase retail packaging capacity for some of these foods.

Over hundreds of billions of dollars of food go to waste annually, I think the dairy market alone wastes $90bn annually.

Don't panic, the media lies.

My food waste has plummeted since I've been home. I think this is the problem they're hyping up. People aren't wasting.

We have wasted some, but are doing much better than before about eating things before they go bad. Don't want to waste valuable food!
