I'll believe it when it happens.
There is more than $200 trillion dollars worth of oil in Iraq.

We don't need it.

imagine, if an alternative to oil will become available , some 'free energy' solution that will change the world. Would we care much about how much oil is in Iraq?

First test with cold fusion started late 1980. The United States Department of Energy (DOE) did their initial test in 1989. I did a public speaking mid-90s about it.
For those not familiar with cold fusion, it is the really safe version of nuclear power. You get all the benefits, without the risks. Cold fusion "is a hypothesized type of nuclear reaction that would occur at, or near, room temperature. It would contrast starkly with the "hot" fusion that is known to take place naturally within stars and artificially in hydrogen bombs and prototype fusion reactors under immense pressure and at temperatures of millions of degrees, and be distinguished from muon-catalyzed fusion. There is currently no accepted theoretical model that would allow cold fusion to occur."

I think cold fusion could be it - wipe out the energy markets fairly quickly. Hasn't happened yet.
There are a lot of power players who do not want it to happen, and oil is the largest industry on Earth. The water car guy was assassinated and his patents seized by NASA. The Nano battery rights were bought out by the MIC and it has disappeared from public knowledge. That's how these things roll.
The only way to overcome this is to release the tech onto the net for all to use for free. If you try to copyright and own it, it gets disappeared, along with you if you object. Oil was obsolete fifty years ago, yet it still dominates everything.
Oil finances all of this Middle East conflict. Without the oil they would be back to camels and swords.
