The Battling Bastards of Bastogne held that town until Patton’s Third Army could arrive. That was no small feat. It was critical to pushing back the German offensive and breaking them psychologically. It was part of a collective effort, but holding that town was a key element to our victory cannot be understated.

Yep and this is why we never give up! Help is on the way and we have superior offense.

In no way am I detracting from or diminishing the heroic stand in absolutely brutal conditions. This is part of the legend and ethos in the Airborne community today. But defense MUST be a temporary tactic whose purpose is to set the conditions for successful offensive operations. Only offense wins wars.

I agree with you Patriot Anon. Thank you for your thoughtful response. The Revolutionary War with Washington's Christmas offensive is a great example among many in our history. Personally, I think the house cleaning that needed to be done after decades of treason on the part of the Uni-party was enormous. We are there now, for the long awaited offensive. Btw, I love that the 101st Vets refuse to concede that they were "saved" by Patton's Third Army, simply "resupplied." God bless, WWG1WGA
